This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts, theories, and processes of conflict resolution. It explores the causes, dynamics, and types of conflicts, as well as various methods of managing and resolving them at interpersonal, community, national, and international levels. Emphasis is placed on negotiation, mediation, and dialogue as tools for peacebuilding, with reference to both African traditional mechanisms and modern approaches.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

Understand the nature, causes, and dynamics of conflict.

Explain key theories and concepts of conflict resolution.

Identify and apply various approaches to conflict management and resolution.

Appreciate indigenous and modern methods of resolving disputes.

Demonstrate basic skills in negotiation, mediation, and problem-solving.
